Non-destructive Testing (NDT) refers to non-contact or non-injurious contact testing used in many applications, including quality control, quality assurance, models based, and reverse engineering. HYSIG's high-speed industrial 3D scanning system, FlashCT, is an excellent tool for this arena. Also known as NDI (Inspection) and NDE (Evaluation), NDT technologies are used to search for flaws in materials and parts, for viewing objects and parts inside sealed units, and for indications that parts conform (or not) to specifications.
Aerospace.
FlashCT is used to inspect composite aircraft panels, composite and metal structures used in aircraft and space systems, and critical complex parts such as turbine blades and sealed control assemblies for fixed wing and rotary aircraft, satellites, and for rockets and missiles.
Automotive.
Automotive manufacturers have a large number of NDT requirements for brake assemblies, frames and panels, safety (including airbag and seat belt) assemblies, and fuel, electrical, and computer control assemblies. HYSIG works with a diverse segment of this industry.
Medical, Orthotics, and Prosthetics.
FashCT is being evaluated as an NDT tool for use in these important marketplaces. FlashCT allows for the detailed viewing of complex and very small medical appliances. Our visualization software provides measurement and annotation tools used to confirm specifications and manufacturing processes.
Explosives, Ordnance, and National Security.
HYSIG provides 2D, 3D, and real-time-radiography systems, software, and special development subsystems used in national security.
Archaeology, Geology, and Paleontology.
FlashCT has been used to scan rock samples to determine the presence of minerals of interest, such as diamonds, and to examine fossilized remain for artifacts of much earlier life, including what may be the first "mammal" as we know it, for presence of water or minerals in cores taken during exploration, and for characterizing the contents of discoveries without disturbing or breaking them. Scanning with FlashCT allows for the rapid viewing of a sample's interior without the labor-intensive destructive process of removing outer layers, which is often done with highly caustic chemicals.
Orthodontics/Dental.
This is HYSIG's most exciting and demanding area of work as of late. FlashCT has proven to be the fastest, most accurate scanning tool available for the imaging of complex geometries inherent in orthodontic and dental impressions and plasters. In addition to selling capital equipment (see Mass Customization), HYSIG has established HYTEC Scanning Services Inc. (HSSI) to meet the growing demands of this marketplace.
