PRISM (Precision Real-time
Instrument for Surface Measurement) is a measurement tool
that provides full field-of-view surface shape change measurement.
Based on the principle of speckle pattern interferometry,
the system can provide quantitative
measurement down to approximately 30 nanometers.
A standard PRISM system comprises a computer and monitor for acquiring and viewing images of the part, a laser light source, illumination and video heads and drill for residual stress configured systems. The system software fully integrates the hardware to provide automated data capture, and analysis of the resulting images to provide deformation and vibration results, or residual stress measurements using the hole-drilling technique.

Our graphical user interface significantly enhances existing electronic speckle pattern interferometry (ESPI) technology, enabling customers to perform fast, highly accurate analyses. A single PRISM system can be configured to measure residual stress, deformation, and vibration.
The hardware for these three capabilities is essentially the same, and different software modules are added to the computer to provide the necessary analysis capability. Windows 2000®-based, PRISM is cost-competitive, easy to set up, and easy to operate.

PRISM systems are offered for sale in standard or custom configurations for measuring deformation, vibration signatures, residual stress, or any combination of these.
